Fantasy Football Trade Fallout: Christian McCaffrey

Trade details

49ers get: Christian McCaffery

Panthers get: 2023 2nd round draft pick, 3rd, 4th; 2024 4th

Fantasy Stock Up:

Christian McCaffery -- If there was ever an offensive guru with a run scheme and screen game that can maximize CMC’s skill set, it would be Kyle Shanahan. Expect McCaffrey to get several more RB1 games under his belt once he picks up the playbook.

Chuba Hubbard and D'Onta Foreman -- It’s slim pickings on the waiver wire this year, but both Hubbard and Foreman put up big games in Carolina’s upset win against Tampa Bay. In the first game without McCaffrey, Foreman led the way with a 54% snap share to Hubbard’s 46%, but Hubbard earned an extra target. Hubbard might be the more interesting pick up due to his passing game work.

George Kittle -- Kittle was already starting to heat up after an 8/83 week against Atlanta, but he also managed a 6/98/1 this week. Expect the 49ers to utilize more play action passing like we saw against the Chiefs, but he should also get a few more 1-on-1 matchups with Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and CMC terrorizing defenses.

Fantasy Stock Down:

Jeff Wilson -- What a ride for the Jeff Wilson train. He emerged from an extremely competitive training camp battle as the 49ers starter and put up a very solid running line of 88/454/2 to go with eight catches for 70 yards. His passing game usage is about to drop like a rock and expect CMC to slowly take over the role which will make Wilson a weak flex option most weeks.

Deebo Samuel -- The trade probably rules out the rushing gadget plays for Deebo and he’ll strictly work as a WR. We’ll still see some sweeps because he’s a machine when it comes to breaking tackles, but we're going to end up missing the few extra points and red zone chances he would receive.
